the perfect camel coat

It was downright freezing this morning when I woke up.  This made my morning cup of tea that much more enjoyable. It also prompted me to break out my fur trimmed swing-jacket.  It is fabulous and makes me feel like a chic heroine from the 40's.

Don't you love the feel of sexy, functional 40's inspired clothing? It always reminds me of sleuthing circa Nancy Drew (I have always adored the vintage series that began in the 30's).

In love with this camel coat. I feel like it was designed especially for me.

Fabulosity

Please excuse the "prev, next" on either side of the page.  But how great is this room?  I love the quirky zebra painting mixed with the yellow and purple.

Before I leave you to your day, I want to share yet another passion of mine, reading.  I have actually never posted about my favorite pastime, which is rather surprising considering how much I enjoy it.  Here are a few must-read books that I suggest you try on for size:

Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen

Cover Image

I actually read this book a few years ago after wandering aimlessly in the public library.  It is incredible, seriously.  It is about a veterinarian student jumping on a train that turns out to be a circus train and his adventures from there.  I also recently found out that they are turning this book into a major motion picture. So, I would suggest reading it before the previews ruin it!

A Piece of Cake by Cupcake Brown
Cover Image

For some reason I love reading about addiction and drugs, and gangs, and abuse.  Funny, I bet you would have never guessed that about me... Well this book is a memoir that chronicles overcoming the death of a parent, childhood abuse, rape, drug addiction, miscarriage, alcoholism, hustling, gangbanging, near-death injuries, drug dealing, prostitution, and homelessness. Now don't let this discourage you, this book is amazing and Cupcake Brown is victorious.

The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien

Do you have a book that you find yourself reading over, and over, and over again? This is how I feel about The Hobbit.  But, here's the best part about my Hobbit obsession, I love to reread the first two chapters. I honestly can't count how many times I've read those first two chapters... I love the descriptions of the hobbit holes and their pantries and tea times. My copy is ragged from overuse, just the way I like it.

Read on.

Reading on the Reg

Lately I've had a quite a lot of friends ask what blogs I read regularly.  Well--let the questions cease, I am here to tell all.

Every morning I find myself going back to check the same five blogs.  This might be because I have them saved on my Safari tool bar (which I recommend you do too). Here they are:

Late Afternoon

I've been following Liz Cherkasova's blog, Late Afternoon, the longest (I spoke about her here and here).  Late Afternoon is actually what inspired me start my own blog.  She resides in one of my favorite cities, San Francisco. She has been described as an "urban sweetheart," and wears the name with pride.  Here are a few of my favorite Liz looks:

Cupcakes and Cashmere
I began reading L.A. resident Emily Schuman's blog Cupcakes and Cashmere regularly after her bag for Coach was released.  She not only does outfit posts, but also is an amazing cook and blogs about her DIY projects. Here are a few of my favorite things Emily:

The Glamourai
I was introduced to Kelly Framel's blog The Glamourai by sifting through articles about the bloggers for Coach handbag line.  Kelly's Coach bag was actually my very favorite.  Kelly resides in New York City.  I love the way she playfully mixes vintage with new, designer with F21,  Here are a few of my favorite looks by Kelly:

Fashion Toast
I only recently began to read Rumi Neely's blog Fashion Toast (what a mistake that was). I absolutely love her daring outfits and photos with best friend and blogger Bryan Boy.  If you regularly read my blog you may have seen the post I wrote about her here. Here are a few of my favorite things Rumi:

The Blonde Salad
Last but not least Chiara Ferragni's blog The Blonde Salad.  This Italian has access to some of the most fabulous clothes (many she shares with her mom) I have ever seen. I only began reading her blog which written in both English and Italian a few weeks ago.  Here are a few of my favorite looks Chiara:
